Why I told my clients not to book this room category at Sandals Regency La Toc

When you're booking a Sandals vacation, it's easy to get caught up in the room category. You see words like Honeymoon Hideaway and Grande Luxe, picture yourself in a beautiful tropical setting and think you've found the perfect room.

But here's something I always tell my clients: the room itself isn't the only thing you need to consider.

At Sandals Regency La Toc, the location of your room within the resort can make a big difference in your overall experience.

The Room Category I Don't Always

Recommend

One room category I don't always recommend for my clients is the Emerald Honeymoon Hideaway Grande Luxe.

And it's not because the room isn't nice. The issue is the location and terrain of the resort.

Sandals Regency La Toc is a beautiful resort, but it's also very hilly. Depending on where your room is located, getting from your room to the main pool and other popular areas of the resort can involve a fairly long walk — much of it uphill or downhill.

For some travelers, that's no big deal. But if you're picturing yourself walking out of your room and easily heading to the pool for a morning swim, grabbing a drink or heading back to your room for something you forgot, those hills can become a lot more noticeable.

And when you're on vacation, I don't want my clients thinking, "Why didn't anyone tell me about this?"

That's why I look beyond the room description when helping my clients choose their accommodations.

What I Recommend Instead

If you want to spend a lot of time at the pool and prefer convenience, I recommend looking at a poolside or walkout room.

Being closer to the main pool and restaurants can make your vacation feel much easier. You can come and go without turning every trip back to your room into a hike.

Another Amazing Option: Go Butler!

If you want to enjoy La Toc while making transportation around the resort much easier, another option is to consider one of the butler-level categories.

One of the perks of having a butler is being able to call your butler when you need a ride around the resort. At a property with as many hills as La Toc, that can be a very nice perk!

So instead of focusing solely on the words in the room category name, I encourage my clients to think about how they actually want to spend their vacation.

Do you want to be close to the pool?

Would you rather have the convenience of resort transportation?

Are you comfortable walking hills?

Those questions can be just as important as the view, room size, or amenities.

The Bottom Line

Sandals Regency La Toc is a beautiful resort, but room location matters.

The Emerald Honeymoon Hideaway Grande Luxe might sound appealing, but for my clients who want easy access to the main pool, I would steer them toward a poolside option or a butler category instead.

This is one of the reasons I believe having a travel advisor can make such a difference. My job isn't just to book you a room — it's to help you choose the room and resort that makes sense for the vacation you actually want to have.

Because the right room isn't necessarily the one with the most impressive name. It's the one that fits you.
